Stotts City Woman Wins $25,000 Instantly

Story Photo A Stotts City woman is $25,000 richer after she won the top prize playing the Missouri Lottery’s Scratchers game "5 Times Lucky." Barbara Banks said she stopped at Mountaineer 66, 510 W. Mt. Vernon Blvd. in Mt. Vernon, on June 20 to redeem a few winning Scratchers tickets. While there, she bought five "5 Times Lucky" Scratchers tickets, and the last one proved to be worth $25,000.
"I scratched them off in the car, and I kept checking and checking," Banks, 59, said. "I went back into the store and asked, ’Is this what I’m seeing?’ I don’t think you can really believe it until you cash it in at a Lottery office."
Banks, a physical therapy aide at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, said she and her husband, Jerald, plan to put their winnings into savings.
"5 Times Lucky," a $2 Scratchers game, officially began on Jan. 3.
