Jefferson City Mom Uncovers Lottery Top Prize

Story Photo Cindy Carver, Jefferson City, stopped at Everyday Convenience, 910 Fairgrounds in Jefferson City, to get her one of her two sons a breakfast burrito before school on May 17. While she was there, she bought three of the $2 "Red, White & Blue" Scratchers tickets. She scratched the tickets in the parking lot before going to work. She won $2 on the second ticket she scratched, and she revealed the top prize of $20,000 on the last ticket.
"I was just shaking," Carver said of discovering her win. "I went in and asked if I could leave for a little bit."
Carver didn’t want to tell her husband, Larry, the good news over the phone, so she drove to his work and asked him to come outside. He thought she must have bad news, but quickly learned it was just the opposite.
"She was running up with the ticket in her hand," Larry Carver said.
Carver is not sure yet what she will do with her prize, but said the family has been looking at new cars and they might save some of the prize money for one. They also might go on a summer vacation.
"My son wants to go somewhere to see the ocean," Carver said.
"Red, White & Blue," a $2 Scratchers game, officially began on May 2.
