Grandmother Wins $3,250 Pick 4 Prize

Story Photo Mary Skiles, Bland, stopped at Break Time, 702 W. Highway 28 in Owensville, to buy gas on May 12. While she was there, she purchased $2 worth of Pick 4 plays. One of her plays turned out to be worth $3,250 when she matched all four numbers on a Straight/Box play for the May 12 evening drawing. The winning numbers were 2, 0, 2 and 3. She used the birthdays of her 7-year-old twin grandchildren to choose the set of winning numbers. It was the first time she had ever used that combination.
"Those sweet little angels," Skiles said. Skiles, 50, had a happy Mother’s Day when she checked her tickets at Break Time on May 13 and discovered she had won. She was surprised by the amount of her prize.
"I figured I won $200 or something," Skiles said. "It was a real good Mother’s Day to wake up and see that."
Skiles, a mail carrier in Owensville, doesn’t have any definite plans for her prize, but said she will probably put some in the bank and spend some on her son and four grandchildren.
Pick 4 is a twice-daily Numbers Game that allows players a chance to win up to $6,000.
