ST. LOUIS CITY EMPLOYEE WINS $25,000
A security officer for the city of St. Louis now has more of his own valuables to guard after winning $25,000 tax paid* in the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 drawing Tuesday night. Harry Ura, 57, said the day he discovered his win, he also won $250 on a "Cash Vault" Scratchers ticket.
Ura purchased his winning SHOW ME 5 ticket at Dirt Cheap Cigarettes & Beer, 8455 Gravois Road in Affton. He selected the winning numbers - 2, 7, 14, 21 and 28 - at random.
Ura said he plans to use the money to buy a newer car and take a trip to the Lake of the Ozarks.
To date, 773 tickets worth $25,000 tax paid have been sold since the game began in November 1994.
* Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
