Mt. Vernon Man Wins $50,000 Prize Instantly

A Mt. Vernon man is planning for his family’s future after he won $50,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s Scratchers game "Crossword."
William "Jesse" Parks Jr. said he planned to invest some of his winnings and help out some family members with the prize money he won on May 2.
Parks said he was eating breakfast with his 20-month-old son at Truck Stops of America, 1000 E. Mt. Vernon Blvd. in Mt. Vernon, when he decided to buy one "Crossword" Scratchers ticket from the Truck Stops of America Gift Shop. After scratching off his ticket and seeing the prize amount, he called his wife, Stacey.
"She thought I was lying," Parks said about his wife. "I couldn’t believe it either, though."
Parks, who works as a machinist at Tuthill Transport Technologies in Mt. Vernon, said in addition to investing some of his winnings and helping family, he may buy his wife a new car.
The $3 "Crossword" game officially started March 1.
