St. Louis Woman's Beginner's Luck Results In $100,000
A St. Louis woman is $100,000 richer after uncovering the top prize in the Missouri Lottery’s "St. Louis Cardinals™" Scratchers game. Melisa Beganovic, 42, purchased her first Lottery ticket on April 25 at Shop N Save, 4660 Chippewa in St. Louis. When she scratched the $5 ticket at home, she was surprised to see that she had won the game’s top prize.
"I can’t explain it, and I still don’t believe it," Beganovic said of her win.
Beganovic buys Scratchers tickets for her mother-in-law, but she had never bought a Scratchers ticket for herself.
"It’s the first time I bought a ticket for me," Beganovic said.
Beganovic has two sons in college, and she plans to use her prize to pay education expenses.
The $5 "St. Louis Cardinals™" Scratchers game, along with the $5 "Kansas City Royals™" game, officially began on March 28. In addition to winning instant prizes from $5 to $100,000 in the two Major League Baseball® games, players can also win prizes by entering non-winning tickets in two promotions: "Catch the Cardinals™" and "Run with the Royals™." Each promotion will feature three drawings with experiential prizes such as season tickets for two, luxury suites, road trips to games in Chicago, games with ceremonial first pitch experiences and officially licensed MLB® merchandise packages including jerseys, caps, jackets wind shirts and duffle bags.
The first entry deadline for both promotions is May 17, and the first drawings will be held May 24.
