New Rosebud Resident Wins $10,000 Instantly

Story Photo A woman who just completed moving to Rosebud topped off her busy day by winning $10,000 with a Missouri Lottery "Ruby Red 7’s" Scratchers ticket. Kari Hafley, 28, said she moved to Rosebud on April 21 and stopped by Rosebud General Store, 248 Highway 50 in Rosebud, to buy a soda. While there, she decided to buy one $5 Scratchers ticket. That ticket ended up being worth $10,000.
"I was hot and thirsty from moving, so I stopped by to get a soda," Hafley said. "I saw the Scratchers tickets there and thought, ’That one ’Ruby Red 7’s’ ticket looks lucky.’"
Hafley said after buying the ticket, she took it out to her car to scratch it.
"I was putting stuff in the van, so I was standing outside of it when I scratched it off," she said. "When I saw the three zeros, I just sat down on the edge of the van. I couldn’t believe it."
Hafley, who works as a material handler at Von Hoffmann in Owensville, said she plans to use her winnings to pay some bills, get a newer vehicle and buy a few things for her new home.
The $5 game "Ruby Red 7’s," began on Sept. 14, 2006.
