Family Members Share Lottery Prize

Story Photo A group of five family members are sharing their good fortune and splitting a $3,000 Missouri Lottery prize. They play Scratchers games as a group when they’re together. On March 30, they put in $2 each and purchased a few Scratchers tickets at Break Time, 702 W. Highway 28 in Owensville. A $2 "Fun $50’s" ticket turned out to be worth $3,000.
The winners are Stephanie Hopkins, 36, and Danny Marquart, 42, both of Owensville; and Justin Kempker, 21, Michelle Marquart, 19, and Denise Pack, 47, all of Jefferson City.
"She said ’I won $1,000,’" Pack said when she described Hopkins scratching the ticket.
"And then, I won $2,000 ... Oh, my God, it’s $3,000," Hopkins finished.
The family didn’t believe Hopkins at first.
"She’s known to be a jokester," Michelle Marquart said.
The group members don’t have any definite plans for their prize money. Hopkins and Danny Marquart plan to put their money into savings. Pack said she might go shopping. Michelle Marquart said she might use some of her money toward a car since she recently had a wreck.
Kempker and Michelle Marquart are getting married in October, and they might use some of their money for wedding expenses. The couple has had a lucky streak lately. They also recently won a free honeymoon.
The $2 game, "Fun $50’s," officially began on March 28.
