Moberly Woman's Luck Turns As She Wins $5,000 Instantly

Story Photo A Moberly woman said she "never was lucky," but now she’s singing a different tune after she won $5,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s Scratchers game "Crossword." Frances Clark, 22, said her sister has been lucky playing the Missouri Lottery, but now Clark can say she’s the lucky one after she won her prize with a ticket she bought April 3 at Caseys, 326 S. Morley St. in Moberly. Clark said she bought two Scratchers tickets - a $1 Scratchers ticket and a $3 "Crossword" ticket. She took the tickets to her parents’ home to scratch them. She ended up giving the $1 ticket to her dad to scratch. "He didn’t want to scratch the ’Crossword’ one, because he thought it was too hard," Clark said. "I gave him the $1 ticket, and he didn’t win anything. "We couldn’t believe I won $5,000," she said. "My mom thought I was pulling a prank." Clark, who has a 5-month-old daughter, said she plans to share her winnings with her parents and her boyfriend’s mother. She said she also plans to put some of her winnings into savings. The $3 "Crossword" game officially started March 1.
