KANSAS CITY WOMAN MAGNIFIES $25,000 WIN

While reading the Monday morning paper, a Kansas City woman noticed some familiar numbers. Suzanne Franklin, 65, said she couldn’t believe her lucky numbers matched the winning numbers for the $25,000 tax-paid* top prize in the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 game. "I had to reread the numbers with a magnifying glass to make sure I won," Franklin said. "I just couldn’t believe it." Franklin purchased her winning ticket at Milgram IGA Super Center, 6327 Brookside in Kansas City, while grocery shopping. The winning numbers were: 4, 7, 10, 14 and 30. She used a combination of family birthdays to select her winning numbers. Franklin plans to save most of her winnings. A small portion, however, will go towards her moving expenses. "I plan to move closer to my son in Las Vegas," Franklin said. "The winnings will make the move a little easier." Franklin was the single winner of $25,000 tax paid from the Aug. 15 SHOW ME 5 drawing. *Twenty-eight percent federal tax and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
