Louisiana Man Wins $10,000 Lottery Prize
The park supervisor for the city of Louisiana is $10,000 richer after matching four white-ball numbers and the Powerball number in the March 21 Powerball drawing. The winning white-ball numbers were 16, 24, 38 and 54, and the Powerball number was 5.
Ronnie Rue, 55, stopped at Abel’s Quik Shop, 720 N. 3rd in Louisiana, to buy a Powerball ticket on March 21. The next day he used the Check-A-Ticket machine to see if he’d won. When the machine alerted him to see the clerk, he knew he’d won a big prize.
"I didn’t believe it," Rue said.
Rue is no stranger to big Lottery prizes. He has won more than $1,000 five times. Three years ago he won $10,000 on a Scratchers ticket. He used part of that prize to pay for his wedding. Rue plans to use part of his latest prize pay bills and take care of "normal stuff."
"It really helps out," Rue said.
The third-level Powerball prize increased from $5,000 to $10,000 in August 2005, when the game was redesigned for the fourth time since it started in April 1992.
