LAQUEY MAN TUNES INTO $25,000 TOP PRIZE

A Laquey man flicked on the news to check his lottery numbers to receive a $25,000 surprise. Harvey Jones, a civil service worker in Ft. Leonard Wood, was one of five top prize winners in the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 game on Tuesday night. Jones, 61, purchased his winning ticket at Interstate Food Mart, I-44 & Hwy 17, in Waynesville. The winning numbers were: 2, 7, 14, 21 and 28. He used a combination of family birthdays and anniversaries to select his winning numbers. Jones plans to use his winnings to pay bills and purchase a computer. *Twenty-eight percent federal tax and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
