Brookfield Man Wins $20,000 Instantly

Story Photo A Brookfield man stopped at a local business for a bottle of pop and left $20,000 richer. Todd Bourcard, 36, was on his way to a business call on March 3 when he stopped at Main Stop, 104 W. Helm in Brookfield, to buy a pop and a few Missouri Lottery tickets. He won $15 and then bought three more tickets. One of those tickets, "Blazin’ Hot Bucks," turned out to be worth $20,000.
"I thought I won $2,000 at first," Bourcard said. "I couldn’t believe it when I saw the final prize."
Bourcard said he called his wife, Tina, from the retail location, but she didn’t believe him, so he put the owner of the business on the phone to confirm it.
"I still didn’t believe it," Tina Bourcard said with a laugh. "I thought they were both full of it."
Bourcard, who works as a night shift supervisor at a factory and in real estate, said he plans to save some of his winnings and pay some bills.
The $5 "Blazin’ Hot Bucks" game officially began on March 1.
