Lancaster Manager Finds $10,000 Mega Prize

Story Photo The manager of Casey’s in Lancaster uncovered a $10,000 Scratchers prize on Feb. 24 when she was called in to work to buy more refried beans for the kitchen. Tammy Buckallew, 41, said while she was at Casey’s dropping off the beans she purchased at a local grocery store, she decided to cash in her SHOW ME 5 Paydown ticket worth $20. With her $20 prize money, she bought one $10 "Lifetime Riches" ticket and one $10 "$250,000 Mega Cash" ticket. The "$250,000 Mega Cash" ticket turned out to be a big winner.
Buckallew said she uncovered her prize while she sat in her truck in the parking lot. She drove home and told her husband, Dannie, and then she went back to Casey’s to check her ticket. After checking her ticket at the store, she drove home and told her family, "Momma is $10,000 richer than she was yesterday," she mused.
Buckallew and her husband said they plan to pay off their house with their prize money. They may buy another used vehicle, too.
The "$250,000 Mega Cash" game, which officially started on Jan. 31, has one of the highest prize payouts offered by the Missouri Lottery. It includes more than $100 million in cash prizes, including 30 top prizes of $250,000.
