Alabama Man Endures Weather, Wins Lottery Prize

Story Photo Richard Angerhofer of Montgomery, Ala., traveled through Missouri on his way home from visiting family in Iowa, and he took home a memorable souvenir. Angerhofer stopped at QuikTrip, 11101 E. 40 Highway in Independence, to get gas. He also purchased a Powerball ticket for the Feb. 17 drawing. Angerhofer ended up matching four white-ball numbers and the Powerball number to win $10,000.
"We almost flew back because of bad weather in Missouri," Angerhofer said. "We’re glad we didn’t."
Angerhofer also purchased a Powerball ticket in Tennessee. He went to the Tennessee Lottery’s Web site to check the numbers when he got home. That’s when he saw that he had won the third-level prize on the ticket he bought in Missouri. Then, he went to Molottery.com and used the "Check My Tickets" feature to be sure.
"I think we did OK here," Angerhofer told his wife, Cindy.
When he claimed his prize with Cindy and their daughter, Lacey Harvey, on Feb. 23 at the Lottery’s Springfield office, he told Lottery officials that they wanted to go to Branson and coming back to Missouri to claim the prize was a good reason to take the trip.
Angerhofer plans to use the prize to pay for some remodeling on their house, to pay off some bills and to pay for the trip to Branson.
