Chocolate Craving Brings $10,000 To Jefferson City Man

Craving chocolate turned out to be a good thing for one Jefferson City man after he stopped at a convenience store for a chocolate bar, decided to purchase a couple of Missouri Lottery tickets and won $10,010. Brent Brockmeyer, 52, purchased two "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" Scratchers tickets when he stopped at Merten’s Mini Mart in Freeburg on Jan. 17 to buy a Hershey bar. One of the tickets was a $10 winner, and the other ticket turned out to be worth $10,000.
"I’m sure I will put away a bunch of it (winnings)," said Brockmeyer, who is employed as a commercial sales representative for Vaughn Pools in Jefferson City. He said he also plans to use some of the money to pay off some furniture purchases.
The "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" game, which officially started on Sept. 10, 2005, has the one of the highest payouts and offers more than $102.5 million in cash prizes, including 10 top prizes of $1 million. More than 75.14 percent of the $10 game’s sales will be returned to players as prizes.
