Steelville Mom Uncovers $10,000 Prize During Ice Storm
Though their electricity has been out, one Steelville family has been warm with excitement after winning $10,000 on a Missouri Lottery ticket. Thirty-five-year-old Noel Downing said she stopped at Mobil Pump Handle, 510 W. Main in Steelville, after work on Jan. 13 to buy a diet Dr Pepper and three Scratchers tickets. The only $5 ticket she bought turned out to be worth $10,000.
"He (Downing’s husband, Ken) already bought a boat yesterday," said Downing, who is a certified nurses’ aide and certified medical technician at Gibbs Care Center in Steelville. "We’ll also catch up on bills."
As for Downing and her two teen children, she said, "We’re going shopping!"
"Ruby Red 7’s" is a $5 game that officially began on Sept. 14, 2006.
