Purdy Man Finds $25,000 in Christmas Stocking
A Purdy man received an extra special present this past Christmas from his mother-in-law - a winning Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket worth $25,000. Jeffrey "Jeff" Caudron, 39, said he and his family were visiting his wife’s parents on Christmas Eve when he found a "Red Hot Cash" Scratchers ticket in his stocking.
"I scratched if off and immediately thought it was one of those joke tickets," Caudron said. "My mother-in-law asked me if I won anything, but I said that I couldn’t understand the ticket. My wife said, ’They’re not that hard to understand.’ She took the ticket from me to look at and said, ’I think he won $25,000!’"
"It was a pretty good Christmas," Caudron added.
Caudron, an assistant manager at a poultry plant, said he and his wife, Rochelle, plan to use the prize money to pay off some bills and maybe buy a new vehicle. He also thought they might do something special for Rochelle’s mother, Sharon Whitt, of Weston.
The winning ticket was purchased at Trex Mart 6, 18310 Highway 45 N. in Weston.
The $2 Scratchers game, "Red Hot Cash," officially began on July 1, 2006.
