St. Louis Woman Wins Top Lottery Prize

Story Photo It will be a happy new year for a St. Louis (63112)* woman who matched all five numbers drawn to win the top prize of $50,000 tax paid** in the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 Paydown game for the Midday drawing on Dec. 25.
Clara Hearns, 73, called the Lottery’s winning numbers hot line after the Midday drawing on Dec. 25. She was excited to hear that her numbers has been drawn for the top prize, but called her grandson to come over check them one more time.
After working for the Missouri Department of Mental Health for 30 years, Hearns had been retired for five years. She "it was just time" for her to win a big prize.
"I have a lot of things to take care of," Hearns said. "It came at a good time."
Hearns purchased her winning ticket at QuikTrip, 3010 Big Bend Ave. in Maplewood. Hearns picked her own numbers, which she’s been playing for five years. The winning numbers were 2, 10, 24, 28 and 35.
To date, 116 players have matched all five numbers drawn to win $50,000 tax paid in SHOW ME 5 Paydown since it began Nov. 6, 2000.
