Macon Man Wins $10,000 Powerball Prize
A 69-year-old Macon man is $10,000 richer after his Powerball ticket matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball number drawn on Dec. 27. Billy Troeger and his wife, Janice, said they plan to use their prize money to pay Christmas and tax bills.
"We can always use the money," he said when he claimed his prize at the Lottery’s Jefferson City office on Dec. 28.
The Troegers may also use some of their prize winnings to take a trip to visit their daughter who lives in Houston.
Troeger purchased his winning Powerball ticket at Break Time Convenience Store, 1305 N. Missouri in Macon. He let the computer "quick pick" his winning numbers.
The third-level Powerball prize increased from $5,000 to $10,000 in August 2005, when the game was redesigned for the fourth time since it started in April 1992.
