St. Robert Group Named Lottery Team of the Month

Congratulations to the "Mess Hall Workers" of St. Robert! The "Mess Hall Workers" were recognized as the Lottery Team of the Month for January as part of the Missouri Lottery’s 2007 Lottery Captain’s promotion. The promotion awards a Lottery players group with prizes and a feature at Molottery.com each month during the calendar year.
The "Mess Hall Workers" are a group of 40 co-workers from EDP Enterprise in St. Robert who play Powerball together. They work in the mess hall at Fort Leonard Wood. The members are: R. L. and Chris Stein (team captain), Ted Embry and Freddie and Anemorie Hayward, all of Dixon; Art and Kathy Berger, Tonya Bonar, John Cowart, Han Dowell, Lyle Hilderman, Timothy and Tammy Holyfield, Wayne Kitchens, Steven and Pam Mar, Butch Ousley and Michelle Thayer, all of Waynesville; Ursula and Kay Antel, Crocker; Jeffrey and Pam Browning and Billy and Kita Gold, Plato; Bryan Babb, John Bell and Joyce Rhodneizer, all of Licking; Robert Bonar, Dru Cowart and Rachel Williams, all of Laquey; Paul and Saowalak Dyl and Debbie Hargus, all of St. Robert; Mickey and Anna Hansen, George Sauser and Brenda Seacrest, all of Newburg; Daniel and Reyline Sturges, Fort Leonard Wood; and Cyril Embry, Devils Elbow.
The "Mess Hall Workers" started playing together about a year ago during a large jackpot. After playing together a few times when the jackpot was large, they decided to form a Lottery team.
"We finally all decided to do it," Stein said. "We throw in $5 each."
The group plays Powerball every Wednesday and Saturday. Stein purchases their tickets at All Star Express, 906 Missouri Ave. in St. Robert. The "Mess Hall Workers" use Quick Pick to let the computer choose their numbers.
The "Mess Hall Workers" haven’t won a jackpot yet, but they already have plans for the money if they hit it big. Stein said everyone has their own plans for a big prize. One team member said she would send money to her family in the Philippines. Another member would use the money for medical expenses for her husband. The group has also talked about taking a trip together if they win a jackpot.
"We’re all a bunch of dreamers," Stein said.
