The final five winners of brand new 1999 Limited Edition Ford Explorers were drawn Monday in the sixth and final drawing of the Missouri Lottery’s "Explor-A-Thon Mega Summer Spectacular" promotion. Dorothy Bauer, 66, of Jefferson City, Jose Bontin, 65, of Riverside, Paul Carney, 71, of St. Louis (63147*), Sandra McKinzie, 48, of Gravois Mills and Sandra Pfingsten, 54, of Belleville, Ill., each will receive an Explorer, $500 and taxes paid on the prize package worth more than $43,000. The five names were drawn from among 677,600 entries sent in during the entire promotion, which ran from July 26 through Sept. 4. In addition to three Explorer winners, 500 entrants were drawn in the grand-prize drawing to win a $20 gift certificate to Sam Goody music store. (See complete list at www.molottery.com) Dorothy Bauer, who is retired, said she and her husband could use a new vehicle since their two cars are at least 19 years old. Bauer’s winning entry was produced at Hy-Vee Food Store, 3721 W. Truman Blvd. in Jefferson City. Jose Bontin, a final inspector at the Ford Motor Co. Claycomo plant, said he is happy to win a brand new Ford Explorer. Bontin currently drives a ’90 Mercury Cougar. His winning entry was generated at Harry’s Factory Outlet, 4335 NW Gateway in Riverside. Paul Carney, who currently drives an ’84 Buick Riveria, said he plans to keep the Explorer. Carney, who is a retired shoe salesman, bought tickets that produced his winning entry at Sterling Market Place, 8350 N. Broadway in St. Louis. Sandra McKinzie said she was excited to find out she won an Explorer since she has been missing her old four-wheel drive Blazer. McKinzie’s entry was produced at Laurie Market, Highway 5 and Lake Road 27 in Laurie. McKinzie and her husband, Walt, own Walt’s Boat Repair in Gravois Mills. Sandra Pfingsten plans to drive her new Ford Explorer to Colorado for a ski trip this winter. Pfingsten, a mainframe computer programmer, received her winning entry after buying lottery tickets at Locust Bakery/Cigarette Shop, 515 N. Sixth St. in St. Louis. Promotion entry forms were automatically generated by the lottery terminals with each $5 purchase of Powerball, Missouri Lotto, SHOW ME 5, Pick 4 or Pick 3 from July 26 through Sept. 4.
