Rolla Man Wins $10,000 Instantly

Story Photo A Rolla man went to the store to get his dog a bone when he decided to buy one "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" Scratchers ticket. Darrell Karr went to the Country Mart, 319 N. Jefferson in St. James, on Dec. 14 to buy the dog bone. He said he saw the Instant Ticket Vending Machine located in the store and decided to try his luck on one of the $10 Scratchers ticket.
Karr said he has only bought six of the $10 Scratchers tickets, but has won a $200 prize, a $100 prize and a $50 prize and now the $10,000 prize.
"I could hardly believe it," Karr said. "My wife couldn’t either."
Karr, a retired construction superintendent, said he and his wife, Betty, plan to use their winnings to help pay college expenses for their youngest son, have a good Christmas and maybe use of the prize money for a vacation to New Orleans next summer.
The "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" game, which officially started on Sept. 10, 2005, has the one of the highest payouts and offers more than $102.5 million in cash prizes, including 10 top prizes of $1 million. More than 75.14 percent of the $10 game’s sales will be returned to players as prizes.
