Rogersville Man Wins $50,000 Tax Paid

Story Photo audio icon A Rogersville man can make some serious home improvements after his SHOW ME 5 Paydown ticket for the Nov. 18 drawing matched all five numbers drawn to win $50,000 tax paid.* James "Jim" Halstead, 67, said he and his wife, Linda, plan to use some of the prize money for various home improvements. He also plans to "have a good Christmas, too."
Halstead purchased his winning ticket at G & W Apple Market, 100 W. Highway 60 in Rogersville. He let the computer select his winning numbers. Those numbers were: 3, 10, 20, 26 and 38.
To date, 113 players have matched all five numbers drawn to win $50,000 tax paid in SHOW ME 5 Paydown since it began Nov. 6, 2000.
* The Missouri Lottery will pay 25 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on its value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $70,422.55. After withholding, winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 players match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will be divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
