Jackson Grandmother Uncovers Top Lottery Prize
Margaret Sides, Jackson, is $100,000 richer after uncovering the top prize on the Missouri Lottery Scratchers game "$100,000 Jackpot." Sides, 58, bought her winning ticket on Nov. 22 at Country Mart, 309 E. Jackson Blvd. in Jackson, where she is the bakery and deli manager.
"This is just in time," Sides said.
Sides won $15 on a $10 "Lifetime Riches" Scratchers ticket. She used her prize to buy three $5 "$100,000 Jackpot" tickets. Sides said that her co-workers got even more excited than she did after uncovering the top prize.
"I stayed pretty calm, and the others were really excited," Sides said. "I thought, ’Thank you, Lord.’"
Sides plans to use some of her prize to pay bills and celebrate Christmas with family. She has two grown children and 16-year-old twin grandsons.
"My grandsons work there, too," Sides said. "They’re out of school and were working today. I told them, ’You’re going to have a better Christmas than normal.’"
"$100,000 Jackpot" officially began on July 1.
