Bois D'Arc Woman Wins $10,000 Scratchers Prize On Thanksgiving
A 19-year-old Bois D’Arc woman plans to use some of her $10,000 prize money to buy toys for children in the pediatric ward at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield this Christmas. Aarron Andrus uncovered the prize on a Missouri Lottery "$100,000 Jackpot" ticket that she bought on Thanksgiving night at Casey’s, 604 N. Main in Republic.
"Probably a lot of it will go to Christmas," said Andrus, who works in human resources for Jared Enterprises in Springfield. "I’m going toy shopping. I was already planning to get toys for some of the kids. Last year we donated to the pediatrics. So now I get to spend a little bit more."
Andrus said she will also buy some "toys" for her husband, Preston, like items for his four-wheeler and truck. She plans to buy herself a new computer and some clothes.
"$100,000 Jackpot," a $5 Scratchers game, officially began on July 1.
