Walker Woman Continues Family's Lucky Streak by Winning $10,000

The Clark family of Walker is continuing its lucky streak after a family member won $10,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" Scratchers game just weeks after another member of the family claimed a $50,000 a year prize for life from another Scratchers game. Phyllis Clark, 53, who claimed her $10,000 prize on Nov. 16, said she purchased her ticket about two months ago. Her son, Gary Clark, 31, purchased his winning "Lifetime Riches" Scratchers ticket on Aug. 8. He claimed his prize on Aug. 16.
"It is pretty amazing," Phyllis Clark said recently after claiming her prize. "We have been lucky."
Phyllis Clark purchased her winning ticket while eating breakfast at 54 Café, 540 Subway Blvd. in Nevada. Her son, Gary Clark, purchased his ticket from Tim’s Convenience Store also in Nevada.
Phyllis Clark said she waited to scratch the ticket until she got home. Clark and her husband, Mike, own Dirt Works Race Cars, where Gary also works.
Clark said she plans to use her prize money to have a nice holiday season and to pay bills. Her son, Gary, and his wife, Shawna, planned to use their winnings to save for their 7-year-old daughter’s education and for retirement.
The winning coincidence doesn’t end there. Gary Clark and his family live in a house previously owned by Judy Lasley and the late Nelson Lasley when they won $6.5 million playing Missouri Lotto on Feb. 17, 1993.
"$100 Million Cash Spectacular" and "Lifetime Riches" are the Lottery’s two $10 mega games and have the highest prize payouts in the Lottery’s history. "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" officially started on Sept. 10, 2005. It offers more than $102.5 million in cash prizes, including 10 top prizes of $1 million; five top prizes of $1 million remain unclaimed. "Lifetime Riches" officially started April 22. It offers more than $100 in cash prizes, including 10 top prizes of $50,000 for life; six top prizes remain unclaimed.
