Brookline Station Woman Wins $10,000 Prize

Story Photo A Brookline Station waitress is planning an extra special birthday this year after she won $10,000 playing one of the newest Missouri Lottery Scratchers games, "Season’s Greetings." Sharon McCowan, who turns 51 on Halloween, said she plans to celebrate her birthday with a steak dinner after winning the prize with a ticket she purchased from Briarwood One Stop, W. 5092 Sunshine in Brookline, on Oct. 26.
McCowan said she purchased two "Season’s Greetings" Scratchers tickets and took them home.
"After I gave my husband one of the tickets to scratch, I started scratching off the numbers on my ticket," McCowan said. "I saw that all of my numbers matched the two winning numbers. When I scratched off the first two prize amounts and saw $1,000 each, I had to give my ticket to my husband to let him finish scratching. I was too nervous."
McCowan said she and her husband, Dennis, plan to use the prize money to pay off her car, have a nice Christmas and celebrate her birthday with a steak dinner.
"Season’s Greetings," a $2 game, officially starts Oct. 28.
