Retired Florida Man Wins $20,000 With Ticket Purchased in Branson
A retired Florida man on vacation with his wife to celebrate their upcoming 40th wedding anniversary made the trip even better after he won $20,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s Scratchers game, "Lifetime Riches." Richard Sullivan, 65, of Ocala, Fla., said he and his wife, Rochelle, were visiting Branson on Oct. 18 when he decided to purchase some Missouri Lottery tickets.
"I decided to go for a walk to find a place to buy Lottery tickets," Sullivan said. "I left the motel and had to walk up a big hill. I was huffing and puffing up the hill, and I thought ’This is ridiculous.’ I just about stopped and went back to the motel, but I’m glad I didn’t."
Sullivan made it to Canyon Springs General, 4017 W. Highway 76 in Branson, where he purchased a few Numbers Games tickets and one "Lifetime Riches" ticket. He scratched the "Lifetime Riches" ticket at the store and couldn’t believe it when he saw he had won $20,000.
"Let me tell you, going back down that hill was a lot easier," he said.
Sullivan said he and his wife are still on their extended vacation and may spend some of their winnings while on their trip. They also have shared some of the prize with their daughter, and they plan to invest some of it.
The "Lifetime Riches" game, which officially started April 22, has the highest payout in the Lottery’s history and offers more than $100 million in cash prizes, including 10 top prizes of $50,000 a year for life. More than 75.62 percent of the $10 game’s sales will be returned to players as prizes.
