Nebraska Woman Wins $50,000 Tax Paid in Unionville

Story Photo A Bellwood, Neb., woman is looking forward to having a few weekends to relax after she won $50,000 tax-paid* in the Missouri Lottery’s Midday SHOW ME 5 Paydown drawing on Oct. 13. Debora Toy, 43, said she plans to cut down on the number of hours she works since she won the SHOW ME 5 Paydown prize.
Toy said she was visiting a family friend in Unionville when she decided to stop at Casey’s, 2415 W. Main in Unionville, to purchase some Lottery tickets and soda pop. She said she went back into Casey’s the following day to check her tickets.
"The clerk, said ’You just won $50,000,’" Toy said. "I started bawling and shaking. I couldn’t believe it."
Toy said she plans to use her winnings to pay off her car and a mortgage on her property. By paying off those bills, Toy said she can now take off work a few weekends a month. Toy let the computer "Quick Pick" the winning numbers, which were: 30, 35, 41, 43 and 44.
To date, 111 players have matched all five numbers drawn to win $50,000 tax paid in SHOW ME 5 Paydown since it began Nov. 6, 2000.
* The Missouri Lottery will pay 25 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on its value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $70,422.55. After withholding, winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 players match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will be divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
