Kansas City, Kan., Man Wins $50,000 Tax Paid

Story Photo A 54-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man is $50,000 richer after his SHOW ME 5 Paydown ticket matched all five numbers drawn on Oct. 13. David Rios purchased his winning ticket at Millennium Super Stop II, 1603 W. 12th St. in Kansas City.
Rios, who owns Tarahumara Boots in Kansas City, Kan., won using his own numbers. The winning numbers were: 7, 14, 16, 37 and 42.
To date, 111 players have matched all five numbers drawn to win $50,000 tax paid in SHOW ME 5 Paydown since it began Nov. 6, 2000.
* The Missouri Lottery will pay 25 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on its value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $70,422.55. After withholding, winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 players match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will be divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
