Arnold Man Gets $100,000 'Wedding Present'

audio icon A 39-year-old Arnold man plans to buy a home after he uncovered a $100,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery "Texas Hold ’Em™ Poker" ticket he bought on Oct. 7 at U-Gas, 3611 W. Outer Road in Arnold. Michael Shellum said he bought one ticket from the "Ruby Red 7’s" game and one from the "Texas Hold ’Em Poker" game. The "Texas Hold ’Em™ Poker" ticket turned out to be the big winner.
"We just recently got married," he said. "We’ve been married about two and a half months now, so the first thing I want to do is buy a house. It’s a pretty good wedding present."
Shellum said he and his wife, Lynn, also plan to pay off his 2005 Mazda with the prize money.
"I’ve got a disabled mother I take care of, too," he said. "So I’ll buy her a whole new living room set."
"Texas Hold ’Em™ Poker," a $5 Scratchers game, officially began on Aug. 5.
