Ellisville Woman Receives First Bundle of Joy

Story Photo audio icon A new mother-to-be from Ellisville received her first special bundle when she won $50,000 tax-paid* in the Missouri Lottery’s Midday SHOW ME 5 Paydown drawing on Sept. 26. Jennifer "Jenny" McKinney, 28, said she plans to use her prize winnings to start a savings account for the baby, along with paying off some bills. McKinney’s baby is due in February 2007.
"I’ll probably use it for a down payment on a house of my own," said McKinney, who is engaged and now living with her parents.
McKinney, who is a drug counselor, purchased her winning ticket at Schnucks Market, 16580 Manchester Road in Wildwood. She let the computer "Quick Pick" the winning numbers, which were: 5, 24, 31, 39 and 41.
To date, 108 players have matched all five numbers drawn to win $50,000 tax paid in SHOW ME 5 Paydown since it began Nov. 6, 2000.
* The Missouri Lottery will pay 25 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on its value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $70,422.55. After withholding, winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 players match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will be divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
