Winfield Dart Enthusiast Hits $12,502 Playing Keno

Story Photo audio icon A 50-year-old dart enthusiast from Winfield hit the bullseye matching seven numbers on a Club Keno ticket he bought when he played his regular Tuesday night league darts at Hot Shots, 1636 Country Club Plaza in St. Charles, on Sept. 19. Lonnie Shaul said he and his fellow team members had pooled their money to play Club Keno earlier in the evening, but the group’s money ran out and he bought a ticket on his own. He used the same numbers the group had been playing, which consisted of birthdays and other special numbers.
Shaul, who is a disabled painter, said he is not sure what he will do with his prize money.
"We’ll do something with it," said Shaul when he claimed his prize at the Lottery’s Jefferson City office on Sept. 20. "We’ll probably have a barbecue; we’re big on barbecues. We have a lot of them."
Club Keno began in May 2002. Players can win from $1 to $100,000 per $1 ticket per drawing. For an extra $1, players can chose the Bulls-Eye option and win between $5 and $50 for matching just the Bulls-Eye number. Players can win as much as $300,000 by matching all the numbers and the Bulls-Eye number in a 10-spot game.
