St. Louis University Employee Wins $100,000 Top Prize Instantly

Story Photo audio icon A public safety officer for St. Louis University and Grand Center Inc. uncovered a $100,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket. Anthony "Tony" Cotton, 43, of St. Louis (63121*) bought his winning "Texas Hold ’Em Poker" ticket at Shell, 35 S. Grand in St. Louis, on Aug. 31.
"This is the luckiest day of my life," said Cotton, who claimed his prize in the Lottery’s St. Louis office on Sept. 1, which was also his youngest son’s 17th birthday.
"He (son) called me the other day and told me he started going to this church, so he needed a couple of suits (for his birthday)," said Cotton. "I’ll hook him up with some suits and shoes and shirts - the whole nine yards now - instead of just buying a suit."
Cotton said he also plans to buy a used Jaguar - something he has always wanted - and invest the remainder of his prize money.
"Texas Hold ’Em Poker," a $5 Scratchers game, officially began on Aug. 5.
