Clinton Man Uncovers $25,000 Prize Instantly

Story Photo A Clinton man can fix up his 2000 Chevrolet S10 truck after he uncovered a $25,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery "Wild Cherries" Scratchers ticket. Gary Portwood, 53, said the truck, which he and his wife, Anna Lee, call "little red" needs some work. "We might take a trip, but we’re not sure where or when," Portwood said when he claimed his prize at the Lottery’s Jefferson City office on Sept. 1. In addition to fixing up their vehicle and taking a trip, the Portwoods plan to pay off some bills and "have fun" with their prize money. Portwood, who works in shipping at Tyson Foods Inc. in Sedalia, purchased his winning ticket on Aug 31 at Bullseye-Calhoun, 200 W. Main in Calhoun. "Wild Cherries," a $2 game, officially went on sale on Aug. 5.
