Arkansas Man Wins $10,000 With Ticket Bought In Republic

Story Photo An Arkansas truck driver might start building a garage after he won $10,000 on a Powerball ticket he purchased in Republic. Darel Pellham, 47, of Rogers, Ark., said he also "talked his wife into" buying a newer Jeep Grand Cherokee. "We just bought a newer house, so we may use some of the money to make an extra payment," said Pellham, who drives for Federal Express Freight in Lowell, Ark. Pellham purchased his winning ticket for the Aug. 5 Powerball drawing at Rapid Robert’s, 1278 E. 60 Highway in Republic. He used the same set of numbers he has been playing for the past six months. The third-level Powerball prize increased from $5,000 to $10,000 one year ago on Aug. 28, 2005, when the game was redesigned for the fourth time since it started in April 1992.
