"Crossword" Spells Prize for Nixa Woman

Story Photo An ordinary Friday for Luella Stewart, Nixa, turned into a memorable one on Aug. 18. Stewart, 79, uncovered a $50,000 top prize playing the Missouri Lottery Scratchers game "Crossword."
"It’s a wonderful thing that happened," Steward said. "I’m not going to be able to sleep tonight."
Stewart went to Underwood Express Mart, Highways 160 and EE in Highlandville, to purchase gas and Lottery tickets. She scratched her lucky ticket at the store.
"I got numb," Stewart said. "The clerk was too excited for words."
Stewart plans to use her prize to pay bills. She also might take a trip to Tunica with her family.
"Crossword," a $3 Scratchers game, officially began on Aug. 5.
