Republic Businessman Wins $10,000 Prize on Birthday
A Republic business man is having a very special birthday today after he uncovered a $10,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery "Lifetime Riches" Scratchers ticket. Roger Lewellen, 52, said he only bought one "Lifetime Riches" ticket when he stopoped at Briarwood One Stop, W. 5092 Sunshine in Brookline, on Aug. 4.
"I was on my way home from work and I thought, ’Well, it’s my birthday; I’ll buy one of the $10 tickets and splurge,’" he said. "And I about died when I scratched it off."
Lewellen, the owner of RDL Electric and Lewellen Homes in Republic, teased that "at my age, that’s probably the best thing you can get" for his birthday.
Lewellen said he, his wife, Lisa, and their two teenage daughters will probably use the prize money to take a vacation.
"The kids want to go back to Disney World," he said. "My wife wants to go to Maine."
The new "Lifetime Riches" game, which officially started April 22, has the highest payout in the Lottery’s history and offers more than $100 million in cash prizes, including 10 top prizes of $50,000 a year for life. More than 75.62 percent of the $10 game’s sales will be returned to players as prizes.
