CAPE GIRARDEAU MAN WINS $25,000

A Cape Girardeau welder is $25,000 richer after matching all five numbers drawn in Monday night’s SHOW ME 5 drawing. Richard "Rick" Hency Sr., 41, claimed his tax-paid prize at the Missouri Lottery’s St. Louis office on Thursday. Hency plans to use his winnings to pay bills and take a Florida vacation. Hency purchased his winning ticket at Commodore Oil, 103 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. He used a combination of family birthdays and his wedding anniversary to select the lucky combination. The winning numbers were: 2, 10, 24, 25 and 30. To date, 688 SHOW ME 5 players have won $25,000 tax paid* since that game began in November 1994. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
