Willow Springs Couple Sharing $30,002 Bingo Prize

Story Photo A Willow Springs man and his "significant other" are sharing a $30,002 top prize after they uncovered it on a Missouri Lottery "Block Bingo" Scratchers ticket. Michael "Mike" Ward, 49, and Brenda Trautz, 45, had lunch at Subway on July 13, and afterward stopped at Mini Mart, 1818 Port Wagoner Blvd. in West Plains, to buy drinks and one $2 Scratchers ticket.
"He said to me, ’Go ahead and play it because I never win,’" said Brenda Trautz. "Then I told him, ’I think we won $30,000,’ and he thought I was joking."
Trautz said Ward gave her $5,000 of the prize money. They both paid off bills with their portion of the prize money, and Ward also invested some money.
"We’re going to go on a vacation together, too," she said.
The couple plans to visit Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park in September.
"Block Bingo," a $2 Scratchers game, officially began on May 27.
