Good Luck Comes to Employee at Branson's Hard Luck Diner

Story Photo audio icon An employee at Branson’s Hard Luck Diner had a stroke of good luck when he uncovered a $77,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery "Silver 7’s" Scratchers tickets on June 26. Corey Engstrom, 32, of Branson said he had just gotten off work and he stopped at White Oak Station, 2153 Highway 248 in Branson, to get gas. He bought $10 worth of gas, and since he had a $20, he decided to use the other $10 to buy two $5 Lottery tickets. The second ticket he uncovered turned out to be the big winner.
"It was very surreal," said Engstrom, recalling when he discovered his win. "I’ve been on cloud nine since."
Engstrom said he plans to use his prize money to buy a new vehicle.
"Well, right now I am driving a 1986 Ford Bronco, so I think I am going to buy a car that was made in this millennium," Engstrom mused. "I’m thinking Mustang, but I don’t really know yet."
Engstrom said he may use some prize money to buy a house, and he plans to take a trip to visit his family in Erie, Pa. In addition to working as a manager, waiter and singer at the Hard Luck Diner, Engstrom also works at Shepard of the Hills four nights a week.
"Silver 7’s," a $5 Scratchers game, officially went on sale Feb. 25.
