Poplar Bluff Area Group is Named Lottery Team of the Month
Congratulations to the "Poor Souls" of Poplar Bluff! The Poplar Bluff area group was recognized as the Lottery Team of the Month for June as part of the Missouri Lottery’s 2006 Lottery Captain’s promotion. The promotion awards a Lottery players group with prizes and a feature at Molottery.com each month during the calendar year.
The "Poor Souls" is a team of 21 members who play Powerball together. Members are co-workers from the small-engine division of Briggs and Stratton in Poplar Bluff and their friends and family. The members are: Ruth Eaton (team captain), Donald Eaton, Danielle Eaton, Ray Lampe and Bobby Teague, all of Qulin; Tammy Murphy, Tom Foster, Tina Burks, Larry Modlin, Christy McBride and Steve Fieser, all of Campbell; Donna Boen and Michelle Stenger, both of Poplar Bluff; Mike Taslicky and Debbie Taslicky of Piedmont; Lloyd Chitwood, Herbie Thomas and Paula Thomas, all of Neelyville; Bill Millering of Cape Girardeau; Marie Mattingly of Malden; and Rita Eaton of Williamsville.
Members have come and gone, but the "Poor Souls" have been playing together for 10 years. As a group, they play $20 per drawing.
Team members take turns purchasing tickets at a variety of retail locations, using Quick Pick to let the computer generate their lucky numbers. The team member who purchases the tickets has everyone’s names and phone numbers in case they win big. The largest prize the group has won is $100. They put their prize money back into the pool for the next drawing.
