$50,000 Tax-Paid Prize Sold In Belton Still Not Claimed

Story Photo Time is ticking on a $50,000 tax-paid* SHOW ME 5 Paydown prize that was sold at QuikTrip, 501 E. North Ave. in Belton, for the Feb. 27 midday drawing. The winner has until Aug. 26 to claim this prize. The five winning numbers from that drawing were: 22, 28, 33, 41 and 43.
"This prize is like winning more than $70,000," said Gary Gonder, director of communications for the Missouri Lottery. "We’ve withheld state and federal taxes upfront, so the winner will actually receive a check for $50,000."
Missouri SHOW ME 5 Paydown players have 180 days from the drawing to claim a prize. Unclaimed Missouri Lottery prizes go to the Lottery Proceeds Fund for public education programs. For a complete list of unclaimed prizes and programs funded by the Lottery, go to molottery.com.
* The Missouri Lottery will pay 25 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on its value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $70,422.55. After withholding, winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 players match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will be divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
