Springfield Construction Worker Wins $10,000

Story Photo A Springfield construction worker plans to have a relaxing Memorial Day weekend after he uncovered a $10,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery "Lifetime Riches" Scratchers ticket on May 23. Gerald "Gerry" McPhetridge, 50, said he stopped at Casey’s, 4124 W. Chestnut Expressway in Springfield, to buy an iced tea, and while there he bought one "Lifetime Riches" ticket. It turned out to be worth $10,000.
McPhetridge said he plans to use his prize money to go on a trip this Memorial Day weekend with his girlfriend.
"I’ll probably pay bills with it," he said. "My son’s car broke down, so I figure he’ll need some help with it."
The new "Lifetime Riches" game, which officially started April 22, has the highest payout in the Lottery’s history and offers more than $100 million in cash prizes, including 10 top prizes of $50,000 a year for life. More than 75.62 percent of the $10 game’s sales will be returned to players as prizes.
