Kansas City Man Uncovers $27,777 Top Prize

Story Photo audio icon A detention officer for the Kansas City Police Department uncovered a top prize in the Missouri Lottery’s "Sapphire Blue 7’s" Scratchers game when he stopped at a convenience store after his friend’s bachelor party on May 13. Nathan Bopp, 29, said he stopped at Fast Stop, 5020 Blue Ridge Cutoff in Kansas City. He bought a pack of cigarettes and three $2 Scratchers tickets. The third ticket he uncovered turned out to be worth $27,777. "Then I went home, and my wife was ecstatic," he said. Bopp said he and his wife, Jennifer, plan to use the prize money to finish their basement. They also plan to pay off bills, including student loans, and buy a new riding lawn mower. "Sapphire Blue 7’s" is a $2 Scratchers game that began on March 25.
