ST. CHARLES MAN GETS $25,000 BONUS AT WORK
A St. Charles grocery store employee won $25,000 tax paid* with a lottery ticket he purchased where he works. Craig Gaunt, 55, said he bought one SHOW ME 5 ticket for last Friday’s drawing at Schnucks Market, 800 S. Duchesne in St. Charles.
Gaunt let the computer select the winning numbers. They were: 3, 4, 11, 12 and 23.
Gaunt said he plans to use his windfall to pay bills and invest some for his upcoming retirement.
* Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
