Milan Woman Uncovers $10,000 Prize

Story Photo Kimberly Martin, Milan, says she still can’t believe that she won a $10,000 prize. She said she hasn’t slept for two nights because of the adrenaline rush.
Martin, 35, stopped for gas at Ayerco, 2214 N. Baltimore in Kirksville, on April 30 and bought two "Silver 7’s" tickets. When she started scratching her ticket from the bottom up, she saw "win all" at the bottom. She continued scratching the ticket until she was nearly at the top. Martin stopped and had the clerk scan the ticket. The clerk first told her it was $1,000 winner, but he soon realized it was worth much more.
"He screamed, and I screamed," Martin said. "It was overwhelming."
Martin said she immediately called everyone. She was so excited on the phone that she was yelling. She said, "they thought I’d had a car wreck."
Martin plans to use her win to pay off debt and maybe purchase a car.
The $5 Scratchers game, "Silver 7’s," officially began on Feb. 25.
