Tipton Man Uncovers $5,000 Crossword Prize

Story Photo A Tipton man is $5,000 richer after he won playing the Missouri Lottery’s "Crossword" Scratchers game. Troy Gillpatrick, 39, said he plans to put his winnings in the bank for now. Gillpatrick, who works on telephone towers for Midwest Underground Technologies in Grain Valley, said his wife, Kristy, had asked Gillpatrick to pick up a few Lottery tickets. He purchased his winning ticket at the Beverage Hut in Tipton and went home to scratch it off. "It was pretty exciting," Gillpatrick said. "The kids started coming up with ideas on how to spend it pretty fast." Gillpatrick and his wife have two children. "Crossword," a $3 game, officially started on Jan. 28.
