Washington Couple Uncovers $50,000 Crossword Prize

Story Photo A Washington couple are planning to keep cool this summer after finding out they won a $50,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery "Crossword" Scratchers ticket. Mike and Sharon Miranda said they plan to use their winnings to fix up their house and have central air conditioning installed in their home.
Sharon Miranda, 62, bought their winning ticket on April 11 at Pinnacle Mobil, 1980 Washington Crossing, in Washington. She scratched the ticket off at home.
"I was really excited when I saw I won $5,000," Miranda said on April 14 when she claimed the prize. "I didn’t know it was really $50,000 until I got here to the Lottery office. I’m still shaking."
"I really can’t believe this," Sharon Miranda, a homemaker, said.
In addition to fixing up their home and installing central air conditioning, Sharon Miranda said they also plan to help their two children and put some of their winnings back for retirement.
"Crossword" officially started on Jan. 28.
